The 11th Advanced Satellite Multimedia Systems Conference and the 17th Signal Processing for Space Communications Workshop took place in Graz, Austria, from 06 September to 08 September 2022 in hybrid format.

The event was jointly organized by the DLR Institute for Communications and Navigation and JOANNEUM RESEARCH, with the scientific support of the European Space Agency, the University of Bologna and the Graz University of Technology.

The leitmotiv of the event was the role of satellite communications within future integrated 6G networks.

This top-level event for the Satellite Communications community provided a very exciting programme in terms of keynotes speeches, tutorials and special sessions, addressing the most recent research topics in satellite communications, together with great opportunities of networking with other colleagues and experts from both academia and industry.

More than 100 scientists, researchers and engineers from all over the world participated in this international conference.

The best paper awards were given to:

“Timing Alignment of Distributed Gateways: Theoretical Analysis and Experimental Demonstration” by E. Mollaymeri, T. Delamotte and A. Knopp (Bundeswehr University Munich, Germany)
“5G New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks Multiuser Precoding” by X. Artiga and M.A. Vázquez (Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya, Spain).
